In this video, our founder, Charles E. Carlson speaks about his solo walk-in visit to the Palestinian territory of the Gaza Strip in March 2002. There he witnessed and filmed an Israeli bombing raid from the roof of a building owned by the Southern Baptist Convention. Chuck gave this account to members of the Institute for Historical Review two years later. The video account of this bombing raid can be seen in our documentary, “The Roots of Christian Zionism: How Scofield Sowed Seeds of Apostasy”. In the second segment of this 50-minute talk, he explains Zionist Christian's distortion of the bible and why its followers support Israel despite its documented brutality toward the Palestinians. His talk marked the beginning of We Hold These Truths' nineteen-year study of and challenge to the biblical corruption that has fostered Israel's unbroken history of killings. The publication referred by Chuck in his presentation is "The Source of Our War Problem: Why Judeo-Christians Do Not Demand Peace".
We Hold These Truths has been working for peace in the Holy Land since 2002. This documentary was made to challenge Christians who believe that the modern state of Israel is a fulfillment of biblical prophecy even to the exclusion of Palestinian Christians living there. Our 29-minute documentary was recognized as a contribution to peace by being given a special award at the 4th Ammar Popular Film Festival in Tehran, Iran, in January 2014. This film exposes what should be three, obvious truths: 1. The US has a war based economy that is dependent upon the support for its many wars by Christians under the influence of Christian Zionism. 2. Christian Zionism is a corruption of traditional Christianity that has been promoted for just over 100 years, through the Scofield Reference Bible. 3. The Palestinians have been under a brutal military occupation by Israel since 1967. An example of this brutality was an Israeli attack on Gaza that killed four and wounded 40 in 2002, which was witnessed, videoed, and reported by Charles E. Carlson, the Writer/Director of this documentary. This attack was four years before Hamas came to power and the 3 devastating wars on Gaza in 2008/2009, 2012, and 2014 The last major assault on Gaza in 2014, “Operation Protective Edge” resulted in over 2,000 Palestinians killed of whom were 500 children. This planned operation has turned into a genocidal assault on Gaza with the Israelis bombing hospitals and schools, and civilian casualties hovering around 75% of the total while destroying the infrastructure of the world’s largest, open-air prison (Bob Simon of CBS News described Gaza this way in 2009 in an interview with Charlie Rose). Today, Gaza is on the brink of being uninhabitable.
Chuck Carlson and Craig Hanson discuss the implications of a video by Vox, "How a Bible prophecy shapes Trump’s foreign policy," that has had over a million views. It exposes the impact of Christian Zionists on US policies with Israel and Palestine. Also, the Telos Group, a supporter of Palestinian rights is discussed in light of the funding for it by George Soros, who says he is not a Zionist.
The founding of Israel in 1948 has become a major, theological focal point for millions of American evangelical Christians. In 2001 We Hold These Truths founder, Chuck Carlson, had an ongoing dialog with a “Judaeo-Christian” (who would now be called a “Christian Zionist”) named Sherry that resulted in a six-part series that can be read at “Sherry’s War: A Second Look“. Chuck and Craig Hanson discuss what made Sherry believe that the modern state of Israel is a fulfillment of biblical prophecy and think the way she did. The analysis in this video presentation is carried up to the current state of Christian Zionism.
American evangelical Christians have been conditioned to accept the modern state of Israel as being a fulfillment of biblical prophecy through national Bible studies like Precepts Ministries, founded by Kay Arthur. In this 30-minute video program Chuck Carlson, Craig Hanson and Tom Compton of We Hold These Truths discuss Chuck's groundbreaking article, "Zionism promoted through Bible studies at a church near you." While the theology of Christian Zionism in these studies is usually subtle, the extreme Zionist sentiment as exhibited in two included video clips featuring Kay Arthur should be intuitively obvious to any honest observer. In this program, Craig Hanson scripturally challenges some of the sacred theology held dear by Christian Zionists.
Pastor Chuck Baldwin is joined by We Hold These Truths' Chuck Carlson and Craig Hanson, discussing his recent article, "Trump's Unholy War." Baldwin asserts there is an economic and political agenda behind the present push for what he calls a "Crime of Aggression" upon the Iranian people. Many church leaders unsuspectingly support these acts. Resources mentioned by Pastor Baldwin are available on his website, Chuck Baldwin Live.
Chuck Carlson, founder of We Hold Truths wrote a series of six groundbreaking articles in 2001 about a self-professing, Christian named Sherry, with whom he had dialogued. In this series, Chuck Carlson revealed how Sherry’s acceptance of war is a foundational portion of her religion. At the time, the term “Christian Zionist” had not come into use. It now more accurately describes the theology of Christians like Sherry. Craig Hanson interviews Chuck Carlson in this 30-minute, behind the scenes, look at the series "Sherry's War" that is just as true today as it was in 2001. References: "Iraq: Americans Prepped for 'War'" (Dec. 1990), "Attacking Islam: Revisited," "Sherry's War: A Second Look" and "Christian Zionism: The Tragedy & The Turning, Part I."
With all the support from American evangelical Christians for America's serial wars, a stranger unaware of the teachings of Jesus might conclude that Christianity is primarily a religion of war and not of peace. Craig Hanson of We Hold These Truths, using a biblical approach, weighs the evidence on whether Christianity is a religion of peace or of war in this thought-provoking, 29-minute podcast. Craig looks more in-depth into a significant sermon series about how Christians, as followers of Jesus, should relate to the civil power over them. As a result of Dr. Boyd's sermon series, "The Cross & The Sword" (for an overview see the CNN segment from 2007: "God's Warriors: Dr. Greg Boyd"), 1000 of Boyd's 5000 congregants at Woodland Hills Church left. It appears that millions of evangelical Christians have welded the cross to the sword. The war nature of evangelical Christians is evidenced in the Land letter (see: "Christian Zionist Leaders: Hardly Peacemakers" and our podcast "The Three Ugly Faces of World Conflict").
That the United States has a war based economy should be universally self evident but is not. Think of war at the apex of a three-sided pyramid. The first side is the powerful military/industrial complex that manufactures the war material and fights the wars. The second side is the Federal Reserve system and the international bankers that finance these wars. The third face is the wholehearted and fervent, patriotic support by the Christian right for these wars, particularly those to protect Israel. Chuck Carlson and members of We Hold These Truths discuss this three-sided pyramid in this 27-minute podcast. References: "The Federal Reserve's Role in Financing America's Wars," "The Cross & The Sword" sermon series by Dr. Greg Boyd shows how Christians have welded the cross to the sword (for an overview see the CNN segment from 2007: "God's Warriors: Dr. Greg Boyd,") and "Christian Zionism: The Tragedy & The Turning, Part I" exposes the false theology of Christian Zionism.
Pastor Chuck Baldwin returns for the third time to discuss his recent message, "The Old Covenant Is Abolished, And We Are Under A New, Better And Everlasting Covenant." In this 53 minute podcast, Chuck Carlson and members of We Hold These Truths ask probing questions that give Pastor Baldwin an opportunity to discuss things like when Christian Zionism was first, widely embraced by American Christians and how it has enriched some of the prominent evangelical leaders that he was on a first-name basis with from the start of his ministry in the late 1970s. Also, find out why Christian Zionists support wars to protect Israel. Other WHTT interviews with Pastor Chuck Baldwin include: "Pastor Dr. Chuck Baldwin Rejects Christian Zionism" (Pastor Baldwin explains his journey of Christian Zionist theology) and "CHUCK BALDWIN ON TRUMP’S WALL & SWAMP CREATURES." Craig Hanson and members of We Hold These Truths dissect the events and speakers at the recently held Christians United For Israel 14th annual summit in Washington, DC. In reality, it was a political rally for Israel and a call for war on Iran. Once again, Jesus was ignored, for the most part, during the proceedings. A cavalcade of Christian Zionist politicians, including VP Mike Pence and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, spoke to some 5,000 attendees at the summit. This is a thought-provoking, 22-minute podcast that exposes some of the deceptions of Christian Zionism. For additional analysis of the CUFI summit see: "Countering The 'Christian Zionists/Political Complex'," "Christian Opposition To Christian Zionist Theology Is Growing" and TruNews coverage: "CUFI Conference: John Hagee Spews Pro-Zionist Propaganda to U.S. Churches."
Christians United For Israel, during their 14th annual summit on July 7-8, 2019, were challenged by the campaign, "Rise Against Racism: Counter CUFI." The campaign was sponsored by Friends of Sabeel North America (FOSNA) and joined by Jewish Voice For Peace, American Muslims for Palestine, US Campaign for Palestinian Rights. It was endorsed by more than 30 organizations. We Hold These Truths challenged CUFI at its second annual summit in 2007 and endorsed FOSNA's current campaign. CUFI's leader, John Hagee, boasts of being a Christian Zionist and revealed his political version of Christianity at the CUFI summit by inviting prominent Christian Zionist politicians that included VP Mike Pence, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and National Security Advisor John Bolton. In this on the ground report by Mark Bebawi on Arab Voices Radio, Tarek Abuata, executive director of FOSNA and other campaign members are interviewed along with comments by two CUFI attendees. This is a remarkable 50-minute program that exposes the "Christian Zionist/Political Complex."
Tarek Abuata is Executive Director of Friends of Sabeel North America (FOSNA), a nonprofit, predominantly Christian organization that gives its objective as seeking justice and peace in the Holy Land. Abuata talks on Arab Voices Radio in Houston, TX, about the dangers of Christian Zionism and FOSNA's campaign, "Rise Against Racism: Counter CUFI" (Christians United For Israel). The campaign is headed by Friends of Sabeel North America, Jewish Voice for Peace, American Muslims for Palestine, US Campaign for Palestinian Rights, and more than 30 organizations, including We Hold These Truths. Tarek Abuata was born into a Palestinian Christian family in Bethlehem, and moved to Texas when he was 12. FOSNA's parent organization is Sabeel, an international peace movement initiated by Palestinian Christians.
In this remarkable, 61 minute video, Pastor Chuck Baldwin is interviewed by Steven Ben-Nun of Israeli News Live about his journey out of a deep seated and three decades long belief that the modern state of Israel is the fulfillment of biblical prophecy. What's remarkable about this interview is that Steven Ben-Nun is a Messianic (Jewish) Christian who had been under the influence of Zionism, himself. The large majority of Messianic Christians are fervent Christian Zionists. We Hold These Truths has, also, interviewed Pastor Baldwin in our podcast, "Pastor Dr. Chuck Baldwin Rejects Christian Zionism."
When We Hold These Truths started challenging Israel supporting churches in 2002, the term "Christian Zionism" was not in use. Today, there are more groups like FOSNA (Friends Of Sabeel North America), TruNews and a growing number of mainline Christians that are challenging Christian Zionism. In this 19 minute podcast, Chuck Carlson and members of WHTT discuss some of the latest developments of the "Turning" [from Christian Zionism] that we described in our 2010 documentary, "Christian Zionism: The Tragedy & The Turning, Part I."
An Israeli, Arab, Christian priest and educator got mixed responses at local area churches: warmth and respect from Presbyterians, and a mixture of love and ice water at an Israelist church (this is clear from the questions at the end of this compelling presentation by Archbishop Chacour at this church). Archbishop Elias Chacour is a rotund 69 year old dynamo. As a child of eight he was made homeless by the Israeli army, but against all odds, he and his family stayed in Israel long after most of his villagers became forced refugees elsewhere. He went on to become one of the most important educators of Arab children, and a Christian citizen of Israel. There, he built schools that teach over 3000, Christian & Muslim children in Galilee, northern Israel. At the time of the talk, he had just been appointed Archbishop over several Melkite Catholic Churches that are sanctioned by Israel within its territory. Archbishop Chacour is author of Blood Brothers (Arabs and Israelis) and is a proven advocate of peace, preaching love of all races as his “only weapon.”
We Hold These Truths has been challenging Christians about the dangers of Christian Zionism since 2002. Our latest effort took place in Fresno, CA at the Altar Conference: Where Heaven Meets Earth," that describes it as "a weekend of dynamic worship and powerful teaching, provoking believers of all backgrounds into a lifestyle of radical pursuit and relentless devotion to Christ." We think that's a great idea. Normally, WHTT vigils are held in front of Christian Zionist churches or events held by Christian Zionist organizations, like Christians United For Israel. Thousands of Christians attended the event and were greeted at three entrance points by members of the WHTT team led by David Jacobs and Craig Hanson. Because the "Free Speech" areas were very close to the lines for the security check points at the entrances, everyone got to see one or more of our signs. In this revealing, 23 minute, podcast, Craig and Dave reflect on some very interesting encounters they had with conference attendees. Many people were clueless about what Zionism is. Craig talked with attendees about how he came out of being a Christian Zionist, even though he didn't know he was one (listen to: "Confessions of a Former Christian Zionist"). Handout mentioned in the podcast: "Does the Bible Require Followers of Jesus to Support the Jewish State of Israel? - Be A Berean: Acts 17:11, Do Your Own Research."
This is the first podcast in a series entitled "The Christian Bible, War & Peace, and Where Is America Going Wrong." We Hold These Truths' Craig Hanson was asked by a Christian friend to review a sermon, "Trust Issues" by the pastor of the friend's church, and to give him some feedback. Craig's analysis is very insightful and cogent in this 26 minute podcast. Reference material: "Confessions of a Former Christian Zionist," "The Shadowy Origins of C.I. Scofield: Godfather of Christian Zionism," "Christian Zionism: The Tragedy & The Turning, Part I," "Against Our Better Judgment" by Alison Weir, "Deir Yassin Remembered" and "Does the Bible Require Followers of Jesus to Support the Jewish State of Israel?"
American Christian Zionists have wholeheartedly supported the war on Islam to protect Israel and harbor a fear and loathing of Muslims and Islam. Christian Zionist preacher, John Hagee confirmed this notion when he prayed, before the 2003 war on Iraq, for the US to go to war to protect Israel (see, "John Hagee with Benny Hinn: Praying for Israel in the Name of Jesus"). In this lively, 16 minute podcast, that you won't find on the MSM, Chuck Carlson and Craig Hanson of We Hold These Truths discuss Chuck's article, "Christchurch Massacre: Devout Christians and Israeli Zionists are Responsible."
Millions of American, evangelical Christians don't even realize that they have been conditioned to believe that the modern state of Israel is the fulfillment of biblical prophecy and that they must have a dual allegiance to both the US and Israel to be right with God. We Hold These Truths has been dispelling this myth for the past 17 years. We've conducted about 200 vigils in front of Christian Zionist churches and events. Our California Central Valley Outreach Director, David Jacob and his team found this concept of dual allegiance to be true at a recent vigil they conducted in Fresno at a new venue, a Christian rock concert with singer Michael W. Smith as the headliner. Attendees were greeted by the WHTT team, who engaged them with signs, dialog and a handout, "Does the Bible Require Folowers of Jesus to Support the Jewish State of Israel." In this thoughtful, 27 minute podcast, David Jacobs and members of We Hold These Truths discuss the vigil and the important lessons they learned including the concept of Christian Nationalism.
We Hold These Truths has been challenging Christian Zionist Churches since 2002 by holding vigils urging fellow Christians to advocate for peace and justice in the Middle East. Our West Coast Outreach Director, Craig Hanson, recently asked a pastor hosting a CUFI (Christians United For Israel) "Why Israel?" event in California, why should Christians support Israel. In this 13 minute, podcast zinger, Craig and members of We Hold These Truths discuss the letter he sent to the pastor and the importance of challenging the theology that puts Israel ahead of Jesus Christ. We think it's time that more Christians ask of their pastors, "Why Israel?" We are pleased to recommend the group, Christians United For Israel and Palestine, that stands in stark contrast to the Christian Zionist theology of CUFI.
It's very rare for We Hold These Truths to get media attention at one of their vigils in front of "zionized" churches. Faith Bible Chapel in Arvada, CO held their 40th "Night to Honor Israel" recently, but WHTT was not conducting a vigil as we have done at least three times in the past. Thanks to a local reporter who did his homework, WHTT founder Chuck Carlson was quoted in the article, "Honoring Israel: When a local church takes on an international issue." Chuck Carlson and members of WHTT discuss this, in this snappy, 14 minute podcast. To better understand why WHTT challenges "zionized" churches, watch our 4 minute video about one of the vigils held at Faith Bible Chapel, where John Hagee of Christians United For Israel was the featured guest: "John Hagee with Benny Hinn: Praying for war in the name of Jesus."
When several prominent, self proclaimed Christian Zionists went to Saudi Arabia and had an audience with the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman ("Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Hosts Rare Meeting With American Evangelical Christians"), Chuck Carlson of WHTT thinks "Christian Wahhabists" would be a more appropriate moniker. Find out the significance of the term "Christian Wahhabbism" in this 20 minute program. For background on this program, please read Chuck Carlson's article, "'Christian' Wahhabism: The New Cult for War on Iran."
Sadly, American, evangelical Christians mostly get one side of the Israeli/Palestine conflict narrative. And, that is the "zionised" Christian version that claims that modern Israel is the fulfillment of biblical prophecy, and, that only modern Jews have a right to live in Israel. Christ At The Checkpoint-USA held their first conference in the US in Oklahoma City to tell the Palestinian Christian side of the story. Palestinian Christians are the "living stones," of the Holy Land, and, for the most part, are ignored by American Christian pilgrims visiting the "dead stone" sites in the Holy Land. We Hold These Truths had a booth at the conference and came away very encouraged by the gathering. In this 34 min., fascinating and thought provoking podcast, members of WHTT discuss the CATC-USA conference and challenge their fellow Christians to tell the other side of the story to anyone who will listen. Videos of the speakers at the conference can be viewed here. Also, we recommend watching Palestinian Pastor Alex Awad's excellent video presentation: "Palestinian Christians in the Shadow of Christian Zionism."
The Southern Baptist Convention's leadership loves to defend Israel, using mostly political arguments or corrupted biblical theology. Since our first vigil in Nov. 2002, We Hold These Truths has been challenging Southern Baptists and their leaders. (see: "WHTT Asks Southern Baptist Convention Messengers To Choose Life Not War") In this 33 minute podcast, Chuck Carlson and members of WHTT discuss biblical responses to the Southern Baptists surrounding their recent support for the move of the American embassy, in Israel, to Jerusalem. The dedication ceremony was led by a prayer given by Southern Baptist Pastor Robert Jeffress (see: "Dallas Pastor Uses Bible To Justify Killing N Korea Boss"). Referenced in the podcast: "Israel embassy, protests draw Baptist reactions," "The Israeli Emperor Has No Clothes" and WHTT on Southern Baptists. Two recent actions by members of We Hold These Truths in Fresno, CA and Scottsdale, AZ highlight the continuing need to challenge Neo-Christian churches on issues like peace in the Middle East. Our team in Fresno challenged the California Southern Baptist Convention at their state headquarters in Fresno with some interesting results, both encouraging and and troubling. In Scottsdale, the ongoing need to challenge our church leaders is revealed in this 34 minute podcast by Chuck Carlson and members of WHTT. Excellent references mentioned in the program are: "WHTT Asks Southern Baptist Convention Messengers To Choose Life Not War," "Pastor Dr. Chuck Baldwin Rejects Christian Zionism" and "Does the Bible Require Followers of Jesus to Support the Jewish State of Israel."
"Evangelical Christians make up the biggest pro-Israel bloc in the US. Support for Israel is stronger among American evangelicals than it is even among American Jews. According to a poll conducted by the Pew Research Center, 82 percent of white evangelicals think God gave Israel to the Jewish people. Less than half as many Jewish Americans or Catholic Americans agree." Chuck Carlson and members of We Hold These Truths discuss this tought that was presented in an article entitled "Why American evangelicals are a huge base of support for Israel" by Christopher Connelly at pri.org. The companion commentary to this 28 minute podcast is "Public Radio Details Judaized Christians’ Passion for Israel." Referenced in the podcast: "Dr. Chuck Baldwin Rejects Christian Zionism" and "Confessions of a Former Christian Zionist."
Since 2002, We Hold These Truths has conducted over 200 vigils at "zionized" churches around the US. A group in Fresno has taken the WHTT message to Clovis Hills Community Church (CHCC) near Fresno, CA. In this 12 minute podcast, David Jacobs and his crew reveal the success of their vigil. CHCC is a Southern Baptist Convention church, but doesn't advertise it as such. We can understand why that is, as evidenced in our reports, "Choose Life, Not War!" and "WHTT Asks Southern Baptist Convention Messengers To Choose Life Not War" that challenge Southern Baptists.
Jesus said, "Blessed are the Peacemakers for they shall be called the sons of God." (Matthew 5:7). To Neo-Christian Zionists, those words of Jesus play second fiddle to protecting the modern, apostate, secular state of Israel, at all costs. Supporting wars to protect Israel and speed up end times is holy to Neo-Christian Zionists, whose theology resides at the dark side of dispensationalism. Chuck Carlson and members of We Hold These Truths discuss his recent article"Mainline and Catholic Churrches can End Zionist Wars" in this though provoking, 27 minute podcast about how Mainline & Catholic churches are the key to promoting peace.
Dispensationalism is the theological underpinning of Neo-Christian Zionism. In this 22 minute podcast Chuck Carlson and members of We Hold These Truths discuss what Dispensationalism is all about and the giant word switch employed to deceive millions of evangelical Christians in this "Faith Based, Anti-Reality." References discussed in the program: "What Is Dispensationalism" by David Levi of Friends of Israel, "Holocaust II: Saving Israel From Suicide" by Patrick Hurley (republished by WHTT under the title "One Nation Under Israel")
Adherents to Neo-Christian Zionism theology are doing their best to appear like they are part of mainstream Christianity with a theolgy, they claim, that goes back to the early days of Christianity. This 13 minute podcast is an introduction to a series of programs that we will look into the various claims and aspects of what we call Neo-Christian Zionism (we added the "Neo" because it is a new variation of Christianity). We'll be looking into such confusing terms like "dispensationalism," "Christian Palestinianism," "replacement theology" and "The Rapture." Below is a background paper by Craig Hanson on Dr. Paul Wilkinson, mentioned in our podcast. References: "Brutality Blind Churches Invent Labels for Palestine Sympathetic Christians," "Prophets Who Prohesy Lies in My Name."
Neo-Christian Zionists need to make their dubious theology look holy and true. So, one of their dodges is to call un-believers of the notion that the modern state of Israel is a fulfillment of Biblical prophecy, adherents of "Replacement Thelogy." In this unique and insightful, 21 minute podcast, Craig Hanson, Chuck Carlson and Tom Compton explain what "Replacement Theology" is and how it is used by Neo-Christian Zionists to defend their new theology, that has been evolving for over 100 year and masquerading as traditional Christianity. References in the podcast include" "These Brothers of Mine: A Theology of Land and Family and a response to Christian Zionism" by Dr. Rob Dalrymple; a podcast on "Christian Palestinianism": "Christian Zionism: Mean-Spirited Religiosity Trumping Faith And Compassion."
The idea of Christ Followers supporting political Israel is a movement no more than 70 years old, having no roots in, nor identity with the Evangelical Movement that helped to found and define America. This development has led Chuck Carlson to conclude that Christian Zionism is neo-Christianity, a new form of Christianity. In this 24 minute podcast, Chuck Carlson discusses his article by the same title and expands upon it with the help of Craig Hanson and Tom Compton. [Links referenced in the program: "Christian Zionism: The World’s Newest Religion (article)," "A Theological Response to Christian Zionism By Dr. Rob Dalrymple (podcast)" and "James Perloff on Christian Zionism and the New World Order (podcast)."]
An Associated Press article published in Fox News declares, "Palestinian Christians slam Pence's pro-Israel faith" and reveals an accurate assesment of Christian Zionism not normally found in America's Main Stream Media (MSM): "Palestinian Christians say U.S. Vice President Mike Pence’s brand of evangelical Christianity, with its fervent embrace of modern-day Israel as fulfillment of biblical prophecy, lacks their faith’s compassion and justice, including for those who have endured half a century of Israeli occupation…." In this 27 minute podcast, Chuck Carlson, Tom Compton and Craig Hanson discuss the idea that Christian Zionism is not in step with the truth of the gospel and does not represent Jesus Christ and his ministry of peace, compassion, foregiveness and reconciliation. Rather, Christian Zionism represents a selective compasion that ignores the plight of Palestinian Christians and Muslims. To get a good idea of Christian Zionism theology, we recommend reading Vice President Pence's speech to the Israeli Knesset: Click Here.
Palestinian Christian, Rev. Alex Awad reveals the effects of Christian Zionist theological beliefs on Palestinian Christians, in this insightful presentation made at a "Christ At The Checkpoint" seminar held in Bethlehem, Palestine. Millions of American Christians have been deceived by a theology that says that God gave the modern state of Israel, exclusively, to today's Jews and that the indigenous Palestinians living there, have no right to be there. Traditional Christianity rejects this notion. Please watch this 1 hr. 16 minute video presentation and, then, have one of your Christian Zionist friends watch it. Who knows, maybe they will come to realize that God is not a respector of persons and welcomes one and all into His kingdom. A written summary of Rev.. Awad's presentation is available here.
We discussed the rhetorical question, "What would the Church and our country look like?" in our podcast "What if American Christians were truly followers of Christ?" In Part II, we look at concept that Christians, as followers of the Prince of Peace, should be advocates of peace, and, not of war. In this 20 minute podcast, members of We Hold These Truths expose and challenge American, Christian leaders who steer their flocks to be war-willing supporters of America's serial wars that have focused on attacking predominantly Muslim countries since the 1991 invasion of Iraq. Letter by the INSTITUTE FOR CONSTITUTIONAL ADVOCACY AND PROTECTION - GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY LAW CENTER to President Trump mentioned by Chuck Carlson in the podcast
Craig Hanson, We Hold These Truths' California Outreach Director, contends that the Zionistic Judaism of today and the Christian Zionism that supports it, have more in common with the apostate Judaism and Pharisees of Jesus' day than the historic Christian faith. Give a listen to this 16 minute, thought provoking podcast to find out how Craig can make such a connection.
More Christian theologians are waking up to the false promises of Christian Zionist theology. Dr. Rob Dalrymple, in his book, "These Brothers of Mine: A Theology of Land & Family & A Response to Christian Zionism," does an excellent job to biblically challenge the theology of Christian Zionism. We gave a copy of Dr. Dalrymple's book to the president of western seminary. Here's what he had to say: "I had the time to read These Brothers of Mine over the weekend and found it a wonderful book. I so appreciated the spirit in which Rob wrote the book. I cannot say that there was anything in the book that I would not embrace! I am passing this book on to another one of our professors to get his take on it, but I believe this is an area of teaching we need to be addressing in the church." In this informative, 52 minute interview with Dr. Dalrypmple, we delve into the theology of Christian Zionism. We also recommend this message by Dr. Dalrymple: "What Does Israel Mean To You?" Also, Dr. Dalrymple has just written a new book, "Follow the Lamb: A Guide to Reading, Understanding, and Applying the Book of Revelation."
Two groups of Jewish activists from Jewish Voice for Peace and IfNotNow, in addition to members of We Hold These Truths, challenged a program, "“Christian Zionists-Why Evangelicals Support Israel,” presented by David Brog and sponsored by the Israel Action Committee at the Congregation Emanu-El synagogue in San Francisco. David Brog has been associated with Christians United For Israel, whose leader, John Hagee has publicly prayed for war against Iraq and called for pre-emptive strikes on Iran. In this podcast, Chuck Carlson interviews vigil leader, Craig Hanson and members of WHTT about the importance of this milestone vigil. (24 minutes) [References: IfNotNow: "Urge Temple Emanu-El to Cancel Their Event, 'Christian Zionists-Why Evangelcals Support Israel'," J.-The Jewish News of N. Craig Hanson, We Hold These Truths' California Outreach Director discusses an upcoming vigil at Congregation Emanu-El in San Franciso on September 7, 2017. Congregation Emanu-El is hosting a talk by David Brog: "Christian Zionists-Why Evangelicals Support Israel," sponsored by the Israel Action Committee. David Brog is the author of Standing with Israel: Why Christians Support the Jewish State (2006), In Defense of Faith: the Judeo-Christian Idea and the Struggle for Humanity (2010), and Reclaiming Israel's History: Roots, Rights, and the Struggle for Peace (2017). David Brog is executive director of the Maccabee Task Force, which combats anti-Semitism and the anti-Israel BDS movement on college campuses. Previously he served as Executive Director of Christians United for Israel (CUFI). The Forward newspaper listed Brog as one of the 50 most influential Jews in America. He is a graduate of Princeton University and Harvard Law School. Our message to attendees to the event will include: Coose Life Not War, Dump Trump's Wars, Jewish Brothers: Stop the Trillion Dollar Wars Race in the Middle East. (5 minutes)
Craig Hanson, We Hold These Truths' California Outreach Director, reports on the recent 2017 Christians United For Israel (CUFI) annual conference held in Washington, DC. Craig reveals in his analysis what should be obvious: AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee) and CUFI should fall under the US government's Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA). "FARA is a disclosure statute that requires persons acting as agents of foreign principals in a political or quasi-political capacity to make periodic public disclosure of their relationship with the foreign principal, as well as activities, receipts and disbursements in support of those activities. Disclosure of the required information facilitates evaluation by the government and the American people of the statements and activities of such persons in light of their function as foreign agents." In attendance at the CUFI conference were Vice President Mike Pence and Israeli Prime MInister, Benjamin Netanyahu (via live video conferencing). (22 minurtes )
We Hold These Truths representatives have been invited to speak at numerous mosques about our Christian ministry that challenges Christian Zionism, a form of Neo-Christianity that is less than 150 years old. Christian Zionists hold fast to the belief that the modern state of Israel is a fulfillment of biblical prophecy. In 2012, Tom Compton of We Hold These Truths was invited to make a presentation at the Al-Mahdi Islamic Center in Tempe, Arizona for their International Day of Al Quds (Jerusalem) program. An audio recording was made of the PowerPoint presentation. In this video version, the original audio recording was used using additional photos and videos to bring the challenges being made to Christian Zionism, up to date. For background on the subject, our award winning documentary, "Christian Zionism: The Tragedy & The Turning, Part I" exposes Christian Zionism's false theology. We are encouraged to see that there is a very gradual turning away from Christian Zionism and a greater awareness of this Un-Christ like theology. 28 minutes.
Members of the vigil team from We Hold These Truths greeted messengers to the 2017 annual meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC), held in Phoenix, Arizona. The vigilers were armed only with signs like "Choose Life, Not War," "Blessed Are The Peacemakers," "Where Are The Peacemakers?" and "No More Wars For Israel," and two fliers: "Choose Life Not War" and "Does The Bible Require Followers of Jesus to Support the Jewish State of Israel?" After over 200 vigils around the country, in terms of people engaged and fliers distributed, this vigil turned out to be one of our most effective ones, since we started them in Nov. 2002 at the First Southern Baptist Church of Scottsdale [AZ]. Listen to our report about the vigil and find out if we can argue a case for Divine Providence when we encountered Dr. Russell Moore, President of the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the SBC, at the First Southern Baptist Church of Scottsdale, where he gave the sermon on the Sunday before the start of the annual meeting. We told Dr. Moore, after his excellent sermon, that we hope that the SBC becomes part of the turning as described in our award winning documentary, Christian Zionism: The Tragedy & The Turning, Part I. We told Dr. Moore that he had to watch our documentary to understand what we mean by the "turning". Hold onto your hats when listening to this 31 minute podcast.
Why is it that the teachings of Jesus, like "Love your neighbor as you love yourself" and "Blessed Are the Peacemakers," take a back seat to millions of Christians that are influenced by the religious dogma known as Christian Zionism? In this short video, We Hold These Truths returns to Calvary Community Church (CCC) in Phoenix, AZ. One of our first vigils was held in front of this church in November of 2002, four months before the second war on Iraq started. Back in 2002, our signs like "Choose Life Not War," "Who Would Jesus Bomb?" "Blessed Are The Peacemakers," and "No More Wars For Israel" must have befuddled the congregants at CCC, because they came out and raised the Israeli flag. The occasion for this most recent vigil at CCC was the hosting of a "God's Heart For Israel" event sponsored by the organization Together For Israel. To demonstrate the war willingness of Christian Zionists to accept wars to protect Israel, the "War Prayer" by Christian Zionist preacher, John Hagee concludes this 4 minute video. To better understand the theology of Christian Zionism, watch our award winning documentary: "Christian Zionism: The Tragedy & The Turning, Part I."
President Trump again shows us that he is a master of deal making. He signed a bill that seems to reduce Planned Parenthood’s funding, which will help cement to Trump the support from the Zionist wing of Christian Evangelicalism. And, he did it at the very time he has taken selective killing into his own hands in bombing our one time ally, Syria. Chuck Carlson and Craig Hanson delve into the perplexing "pro life" sentiment of millions of evangelical Christians who are, paradoxically, "war willing" in their supprt for America's serial wars. Articles referenced in this thought provoking podcast: here and here. (21 mins.)
Chuck Carlson was interviewed by Judith Sharpe of ISOC, a traditional Catholic organization, to help Catholics understand the false theology of Christian Zionism. In this revealing interview with the founder of We Hold These Truths, several background resources are mentioned: "Christian Zionism: The Tragedy & The Turning, Part I" and "Christian Zionism Is A War Based Religion." (73 mins.)
Christian Zionism is a war based, political religion wrapped around the notion that the modern state of Israel is a fulfillment of Biblical prophecy. It is a form of dispensational Christian theology (less than 200 years old) where war figures into its end times theology. In this podcast, Chuck Carlson, Tom Compton and Craig Hanson delve into various aspects of this war based religion including numerous, prominent evangelical Christian leaders like Henry Blackaby, Chuck Colson (deceased), Bill Bright (deceased) of Campus Crusade, D. James Kennedy (decesead), Richard Land of the Southern Baptist Conference, Ted Haggard, John McArthur, Dr. Wayne Grudem (author of "Politics According to the Bible") and John Hagee who have blessed the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, both before and after the wars started. They've gone so far as to say these wars are "just wars" according to their intrepretation of the Bible. WHTT's Chuck Carlson warned his fellow Baptists in 1990 about not going to war against Iraq ("Iraq: Americans Prepped For 'War'." Also, before the 2003 Gulf War on Iraq, WHTT opposed going to war, again (see here). An excellent article from 2004 in antiwar.com exposes evangelical Christians who support unjust wars: Pro-War Christians Should Come Clean.
This excellent and balanced news report from Australia exposes the war based religion that is known as Christian Zionism. Even though this program was originally aired in 2007, it is still accurate and applicable now. The reporter from the Australian Broadcasting Company interviews Christian Zionist. mega church, Pastor John Hagee who founded the pro-Israel lobby, Christians United For Israel (CUFI), the Christian Zionist version of AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee). A Jewish rabbi in Hagee's home town of San Antonio, TX, that is interviewed expresses that Hagee's agenda is detrimental to Jews in America and to Israel. Also interviewed is the Palestinian Ambassor. who is a Christian, and who says that Hagee's brand of Christianity is an embarassment to Palestinian Christians. (17 mins.)
Jamal Bishara, a Palestinian Christian and Sputhern Baptist pastor spoke out against a "Pray for Israel" (but not for Palestinians) resolution passed at the annual Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) meeting in St. Louis. Dispensational and outright, Christian Zionist theology is widely held among prominent, Southern Baptists leaders and pastors, like Richard Land, Adrian Rogers and Charles Stanley. Pastor Jamal reveals in this inspirational podcast that he remains a Southern Baptist so that he can be "Salt and Light" to other SBC pastors by challenging the pro-Israel theological bent prevalent in the SBC. Five months before the war against Iraq in 2003 started, Richard Land of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) declared that a war against Iraq would be a "just war" according to his and other evangelical leaders' interpretation of the Bible. Fast forward to 2016 and it still appears that Southern Baptists have a way to go before they can be called peacemakers. However, there are some encouraging signs from some peacemakers within the SBC who asking to be heard. Listen and find out what's going on. (23 mins.)
