Will Southern Baptists Become Peacemakers?

Will Southern Baptists Become Peacemakers?

January 19, 2017

Sign-Where_Are_The_Peace_Makers.jpgFive months before the war against Iraq in 2003 started, Richard Land of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) declared that a war against Iraq would be a "just war" according to his and other evangelical leaders' interpretation of the Bible. Fast forward to 2016 and it still appears that Southern Baptists have a way to go before they can be called peacemakers. However, there are some encouraging signs from some peacemakers within the SBC who asking to be heard. Listen and find out what's going on. (23 mins.)

Evangelical Christian Leaders Challenge Christian Zionist Theology About Israel

Evangelical Christian Leaders Challenge Christian Zionist Theology About Israel

January 14, 2017

Christian_Zionism-07.jpgOver 100 evangelical, Christian. Presbyterian theologians, including the highly respected, Dr. RC Sproul, were signatories to "An Open Letter to Evangelicals and Other Interested Parties: The People of God, the Land of Israel, and the Impartiality of the Gospel." They asserted that: "At the heart of the political commitments in question are two fatally flawed propositions. First, some are teaching that God's alleged favor toward Israel today is based upon ethnic descent rather than upon the grace of Christ alone, as proclaimed in the Gospel. Second, others are teaching that the Bible's promises concerning the land are fulfilled in a special political region or "Holy Land," perpetually set apart by God for one ethnic group alone. As a result of these false claims, large segments of the evangelical community, our fellow citizens, and our government are being misled with regard to the Bible's teachings regarding the people of God, the land of Israel, and the impartiality of the Gospel." If you're looking for a well reasoned, biblicsl response to pre-millenial dispensationalism (sometimes known as Christian Zionism or Neo-Christianity). this letter is worth studying.

Jesus Left Behind at Christian Zionist Bash

Jesus Left Behind at Christian Zionist Bash

November 22, 2016
Christian_Zionism-01.jpgWhen attending a Christians United For Israel (CUFI) don't expect Jesus to be invited even when held at a venue like the Lakeview Assembly Church in Stockton, CA. We Hold These Truths' CA Outreach Director, Craig Hanson, conducted a one man vigil recently at a CUFI "Night to Honor Israel" event held at Lakeview. Then, Craig went into the lion's den claiming to be a Christian to find out that Jesus was left behind and not mentioned. Craig's report is most interesting and informative. Be sure to also listen to Craig Hanson's "Confessions of a Former Christian Zionist" to better understand how Christian Zionists' theology work. (28 mins.)
Vigil To Punch A Hole In The Israeli Separation-Apartheid Wall

Vigil To Punch A Hole In The Israeli Separation-Apartheid Wall

July 11, 2016
Dr. Dan Tirza was appointed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to be the Chief Architect of the Israeli "Security Barrier" (more accurately known by honest observers as the "Separation/Apartheid Wall"). Christians United For Israel (CUFI), the Neo-Christian/Christian Zionist organization, has been showcasing Dr. Tirza at their "Standing With Israel" events that are held in churches around the country. Tom Compton of We Hold These Truths talks about the effectiveness of his one man vigil to challenge The Oasis Church's CUFI event in Tucson, AZ. It wasn't planned to be a one man vigil, but that's how "organizing" goes sometimes. Tom is joined by fellow one man vigiler veterans, Craig Hanson and Chuck Carlson to talk about our vigils of conscience. The New York Times article exposing the myth that Israel built a "Security Barrier" is "Smugglers in West Bank Open Door to Jobs in Israel, and Violence" and the revealing, Mondoweiss story that fills in the holes the NY Times left out is "Front-page article in ‘NYT’ exposes the lie that wall is a security barrier." Also, mentioned in the 23 minute podcast, is "These Brothers of Mine" by Rob Dalrymple.

Call Them Neo-Christians

Call Them Neo-Christians

June 20, 2016
Neo-Christianity is defined as a reinterpretation of Christianity in terms of a current philosophy. The Neo-Christian movement is dominated by Christian Zionism, that is the largest Christian sect in America, whose belief system has been formalized within the last 110 years. Christian Zionist belief is wrapped around the idea that the modern state of Israel is a fulfillment of Biblical prophecy and that anything said or done against Israel constitutes a sin against God. It's a tightly held belief as evidenced by a recent encounter by Chuck Carlson at a street fair in Denver. Craig Hanson and Tom Compton join Chuck to discuss the pitfalls of talking to Christians with Neo-Christian leanings in this revealing program. For background information, see Chuck Carlson's article, "Call Them Neo-Christians." (30 minutes)
Millions Of Lovable, Corrupted Christians Believe Zionist Doctrine

Millions Of Lovable, Corrupted Christians Believe Zionist Doctrine

February 4, 2016
We always welcome challenges here at We Hold These Truths. In this dynamic, 23 minute program, we address an email sent to Chuck Carlson from "Miss Vicky." Chuck starts his reply: "No, Miss Vicki, I do not want to “see millions of Jews killed during the Second Coming, as you wrote to us.  But, I am more worried about you because it appears that you believe the false doctrine you quoted me, and, more than likely, you spread it.  Your doctrine is called Christian Zionism, and, it causes millions to see Jesus as a destroyer of Jews unless they are converted to Jesus first. Let’s talk about it as two followers of Christ, trying to correctly follow Him." Our program includes a discussion about C.I. Scofield and his reference Bible. (Check out "The Shadowy Origins of C.I. Scofield: Godfather of Christian Zionism" for a more in depth look at Scofield, and, our documentary, Christian Zionism: The Tragedy & The Turning, Part I as mentioned in the program.) Don't miss this one!
Christian Zionist Waning Influence On Presidential Politics

Christian Zionist Waning Influence On Presidential Politics

January 29, 2016
When Republican Presidential candidate, Donald Trump recently spoke at Liberty University (founded by the late Jerry Falwell, one of the godfathers of the Christian Zionist movement), he didn't even mention Israel in his hour long address. What's going on? In this provocative, 26 minute program Chuck Carlson, Tom Compton, Craig Hanson and Glen Lesnick of We Hold These Truths are joined by Richard Edmondson of Fig Trees & Vineyards to look beyond the politics of the upcoming presidential campaigns that include ardent Israel apologists like Senators Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton. A must listen!
Prominent Evangelical Christians Are Worrying Christian Zionists Over Israel

Prominent Evangelical Christians Are Worrying Christian Zionists Over Israel

December 17, 2015
In this inspiring, 17 minute program, Chuck Carlson, Tom Compton and Craig Hansen of We Hold These Truths discuss a revealing story in the Washington Post, "How some evangelicals are challenging a decades-long stance of blanket support for Israel's government." It's a story about the efforts of Lynne Hybels, wife of Bill Hybels, founder of the influential, evangelical mega-church Willow Creek in Chicago, to further peace between Israelis and Palestinians. In this program you will find out what makes Lynne Hybel's approach to peace making so unique and threatening to Christian Zionist apologists like David Brog, former director of Christians United For Israel.
One Person Vigil At Christian Zionist Event Gets Remarkable Results

One Person Vigil At Christian Zionist Event Gets Remarkable Results

December 12, 2015
In this 27 minute program, first time, We Hold These Truths vigil leader, David Canaday, talks about his successful, one man vigil held at "A Night For Israel" event in Montrose, CO that was sponsored by Victoria Hearst (one of the heirs of the Hearst publishing dynasty) of Praise Him Ministries in Ridgeway, CO. This was a Christian Zionist event that was not sponsored by Christians United For Israel (CUFI). However, one of CUFI's staff, Dr. Billye Brim, was one of the speakers. Find out how David Canaday, only armed with two powerful handouts "Do Followers of Christ Have An Obligation To Israel: What Does the Bible Say?" and "Facts For Those Attending PHM's 'A Night For Israel,'" could strike fear in the hearts of the organizers of this event.
Zio-Christians Legitimize Israel’s Land Theft

Zio-Christians Legitimize Israel’s Land Theft

Thou-shalt-not-steal-01.jpg

In this thought provoking, 23 minute program, Craig Hanson and Tom Compton join Chuck Carlson to discuss the issue of property rights in Israel.  What about the indigenous Philistines that are now referred to as Palestinians? Do they have any property rights or do the Biblical concepts about property rights not apply to them anymore? The Zionists claimed that they have occupied "a land with no people for a people without a land" and that the Palestinians are an invented people. The inspiration for this program was from a revealing news story aired on mainstream media MSNBC, that talked about the shrinking lands of the Palestinians. (See - the story and the retraction made after pressure from Zionists applied on MSNBC and a story by Alison Weir of If Americans Knew, "MSNBC, Martin Fletcher Disavow Map of Palestine Being Wiped Off the Map").  Craig Hanson provides his interpretation in his article, "Property Rights In Israel."

Four Blood Moons Another Christian Zionist End Times Fantasy Come and Gone

October 1, 2015

In this 31 minute podcast, Hank Hanegraaf. the "Bible Answer Man" with Christian Research Institute (CRI) talks about Christian Zionist preacher John Hagee and his, now debunked, prophetic claims about the Four Blood Moons. This very fascinating, scriptural analysis by Hank debunks Hagee's titillating interpretations of the Bible, is taken from his 9/28/2015 program.

The Strong Delusion of Christian Zionism

The Strong Delusion of Christian Zionism

September 29, 2015

ChristianZionism-15.jpg

In this 27 minute podcast we look into what Christian Zionism is and how to challenge it.  Millions of American Christians are influenced by the dogma of Christian Zionism and have been led to believe that worshiping Jesus requires unconditional support for the secular, apostate state of Israel, no matter what it does to Palestinian Christians and Muslims.  We Hold These Truths has been educating about and challenging Christian Zionism for over 12 years.
Christian Zionist Army to Fight the Next US War For Israel

Christian Zionist Army to Fight the Next US War For Israel

September 25, 2015

SNS-Christian-Zionist-Army.jpg

It should be intuitively obvious to the most casual observer that the USA has a war based economy, as evidenced by the size of its military/industrial complex, its bloated defense budget and the serial wars it instigates. Overwhelming support for these wars, particularly those in the Middle East to protect Israel, comes from millions of American Christian Zionists.  Here's an idea whose time has come...
