The firing of political commentator, Marc Lamont Hill, by CNN is an excellent example of how the MSM (Main Stream Media) controls the narrative on the Israel/Palestine issue. Show too much empathy for the plight of the Palestinians, and you'll become a persona non grata or worse. In this 16 minute podcast, Chuck Carlson and members of We Hold These Truths discuss how CNN commentators like Chris Cuomo are allowed to continue on at CNN while appearing to be objective about the Israel/Palestine issue. Gideon Levy of the Israeli newspaper, Haaretz, explains this phenomena well in his article, "In U.S. media, Israel is untouchable." Also referenced in this podcast is our documentary, "Christian Zionism: The Tragedy & The Turning, Part 1."
Speaking up for the rights of Palestinians could cost your job. Professor Marc Lamont Hill was a political commentator on CNN, who was fired by CNN after he made a presentation at the United Nations on the plight of Palestine that exceeded the MSM's (main stream media) allowable limits of discourse on the Israel/Palestine issue (to watch his courageous, UN presentation, click here). Prof. Hill explains what happened in this excellent, 14 min interview on Democracy Now in their 12/18/2018 broadcast.
In this revealing, 3 minute interview with Bahia Amawi by the Intercept, she explains why the state of Texas would not renew her contract as a speech therapist in the Austin, Texas school district because she would not sign the "Israeli Loyalty Oath" clause of a 2017 billed passed in Texas. Twenty five other states have passed similar legislation. The Intercept "asked if she considered signing the pledge to preserve her ability to work. Bahia Amawi told The Intercept: “Absolutely not. I couldn’t in good conscience do that. If I did, I would not only be betraying Palestinians suffering under an occupation that I believe is unjust and thus, become complicit in their repression, but I’d also be betraying my fellow Americans by enabling violations of our constitutional rights to free speech and to protest peacefully.” For more details on this, please read the Intercept story "A Texas Elementary School Speech Pathologist Refused to Sign a Pro-Israel Oath, Now Mandatory in Many States — so She Lost Her Job." Also, watch the report by Rick Sanchez of RT News, "Will Americans Have to Take a Loyalty Oath to Israel Instead of U.S.?"
Rick Sanchez of RT America reports on a phenomena sweeping the nation that makes a mockery of the First Amendment to the US Constitution, that protects the right to free speech. Laws have been enacted by 26 states in America deeming that any person doing work for that state must take a loyalty oath that they currently are not boycotting Israel, or will not in the future. This 4 minute report needs to be watched by anyone valuing the right to freedom of speech. More details about Bahia Amawi, who would not sign the Texas loyalty oath to Israel can be found in the Intercept article, "A Texas Elementary School Speech Pathologist Refused to Sign a Pro-Israel Oath, Now Mandatory in Many States — so She Lost Her Job." Also, there is a bill being proposed in Congress that would make the "Israel Loyalty Oath" the law of the land (see: "Senators Working to Slip Israel Anti-Boycott Law Through in Lame Duck").
We say, "Open, Bethlehem!" Sure, tourists can still enter Bethlehem from Jerusalem by transiting the wall and checkpoint that separates Israel from occupied Palestine. Most of the Christians visiting the Holy Land have been conditioned to fear and mistrust Palestinians, even Palestinian Christians. Typically, a tour bus drops the pilgrims off at one of the "dead stones" sites in the Holy Land, like the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. Rarely, do these pilgrims get to interact with the local, Palestinian Christians, the "living stones," to hear the other side of the story. Palestinian, Leila Sansour, documents how her home town, Bethlehem, is being walled in. In this 33 minute, abridged version of her compelling documentary, "Open, Bethlehem" you will learn what is happening to the birthplace of Jesus. Be sure to share this with your friends because Leila's story will not make the 6 o'clock news! You can become an Ambassador for Palestine and receive a Bethlehem passport by visiting Open, Bethlehem's website: https://www.openbethlehem.org/
Jesus remarked, while teaching at the synagogue in his hometown, Nazareth: “Truly I say to you, no prophet is welcome in his hometown." Pastor Joseph Beach from Amazing Grace Church in Denver, CO, explains how and why the hometown crowd quickly turned from admiring Him as the Messiah, to wanting to kill Him. This was because of what Jesus taught, as reported in the fourth chapter of the gospel of Luke. This is a fascinating study of 34 minutes on a subject that is all but ignored in pulpits across the US. Questions for Pastor Joe follow by Chuck Carlson and members of We Hold These Truths that add some very interesting insights for today's Christians.
Political commentator for CNN, Marc Lamont Hill, has been fired by CNN for speaking about freedom and justice for Palestinians, in an address given at the United Nations, not on CNN. Numerous, influential Zionists cried foul to CNN and claimed that Mr Hill's remarks were anti-Semitic. Judge for yourself by watching Mr. Hill's impassioned, 21 minute address, where he gives an excellent overview of the situation in occupied Palestine and describes the racial discrimination policies by Israel against Arab citizens of Israel. Gideon Levy of the Israeli newspaper, Haaretz accurately describes the context of the firing very well in his editorial, "In U.S. Media, Israel is Untouchable."
It's very rare for We Hold These Truths to get media attention at one of their vigils in front of "zionized" churches. Faith Bible Chapel in Arvada, CO held their 40th "Night to Honor Israel" recently, but WHTT was not conducting a vigil as we have done at least three times in the past. Thanks to a local reporter who did his homework, WHTT founder Chuck Carlson was quoted in the article, "Honoring Israel: When a local church takes on an international issue." Chuck Carlson and members of WHTT discuss this, in this snappy, 14 minute podcast. To better understand why WHTT challenges "zionized" churches, watch our 4 minute video about one of the vigils held at Faith Bible Chapel, where John Hagee of Christians United For Israel was the featured guest: "John Hagee with Benny Hinn: Praying for war in the name of Jesus."
