Which Side of God is Israel On?
Thursday May 30, 2019
Thursday May 30, 2019
U.S. Ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, declared recently that "Israel is on the side of God." Craig Hanson of We Hold These Truths agrees, but peels back the onion covering this statement by asking the obvious question, "Which side of God is Israel on?" As a follower of Christ, Craig takes a biblical look at Ambassador Friedman's remark and comes up with a remarkable conclusion in this power packed, 19 minute podcast. Referenced in the podcast is the New York Times article, "U.S. Ambassador Says Israel Is ‘on the Side of God’" and Craig's article, "Israel Is On the Side of God." To better understand the theology of Christian Zionists, watch We Hold These Truths' award winning documentary, "Christian Zionism: The Tragedy & The Turning, Part 1."

Why Our Churches Are Defaulting For War
Thursday May 16, 2019
Thursday May 16, 2019
American leaders depend on patriotic, American Christians to support America's serial wars. Churches have a Jesus taught responsibility to oppose the social evil of war with at least as much vigor as we oppose starvation after a natural disaster in faraway places. Meanwhile, wars and the threat of war go on unchecked and under-reported by our churches. Our political leaders blame these serial wars on “hostile” little states that they vilify to keep our moral leaders quiet. Most churches fail to even pray for world peace. Does yours? Join Chuck Carlson and members of We Hold These Truths in this lively, 26 minute podcast about the importance of what Jesus taught: "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God (Matthew 5:9). Referenced in the podcast: "Review of: The Secret Message of Jesus," "Robert Jeffress: America has forgotten God, the best hope is prayer" and "Dallas Pastor Uses Bible to Justify Killing N. Korea Boss."

Christian Zionists Snap at the Heels of A Man From Galilee: Archbishop Elias Chacour
Wednesday May 15, 2019
Wednesday May 15, 2019
An Israeli, Arab, Christian priest and educator got mixed responses at local area churches: warmth and respect from Presbyterians, and a mixture of love and ice water at an Israelist church (this is clear from the questions at the end of this compelling presentation by Archbishop Chacour at this church). Archbishop Elias Chacour is a rotund 69 year old dynamo. As a child of eight he was made homeless by the Israeli army, but against all odds, he and his family stayed in Israel long after most of his villagers became forced refugees elsewhere. He went on to become one of the most important educators of Arab children, and a Christian citizen of Israel. There, he built schools that teach over 3000, Christian & Muslim children in Galilee, northern Israel. At the time of the talk, he had just been appointed Archbishop over several Melkite Catholic Churches that are sanctioned by Israel within its territory. Archbishop Chacour is author of Blood Brothers (Arabs and Israelis) and is a proven advocate of peace, preaching love of all races as his “only weapon.”

The Struggle to Save Al-Aqsa and the Holy Land
Monday May 13, 2019
Monday May 13, 2019
Filmmaker, Karriem Shabazz, lived and worked, for 15 years, in Syria and traveled throughout the region. To do his part for peace, Karriem wanted to relate the history of the Israel-Palestine conflict. Using remarkable archival video footage that he obtained from research in the region, Karriem created a compelling documentary about the little known history of what happened in the Holy Land during the past 100 years. The people of Palestine do not deserve to be forgotten or neglected. Deliberately misinformed and deceived, Americans are responsible for, and are the only people who can stop the injustice, apartheid and genocide that is being committed in this Holy Land, against the innocent people of the ancient Biblical land of Samson and Delilah, and David and Goliath. "The Struggle to Save Al-Aqsa and the Holy Lands" begins with the father of Zionism, Theodore Hertzel and ends with the last Intifada when Prime Minister Ariel Sharon provoked this bloodbath of innocent children in 2001. This film documents the impact of the spy T.E. Lawrence, Lord James Arthur Balfour, the British Evangelical Zionists, the League of Nations and the United Nations. Also, this film chronicles the massacres perpetrated by the “Israeli” occupation force, to steal more land and eliminate more of the people of Palestine. These massacres have defined the longest occupation in history from 1948 in Kafr Qasim through the 1950s, 60s and 70s to the massacre of women and children at the UN outpost in Qana, Lebanon 48 years later and is still ongoing.

Educating Evangelicals About Christian Zionism at the Altar Conference
Thursday May 09, 2019
Thursday May 09, 2019
We Hold These Truths has been challenging Christians about the dangers of Christian Zionism since 2002. Our latest effort took place in Fresno, CA at the Altar Conference: Where Heaven Meets Earth," that describes it as "a weekend of dynamic worship and powerful teaching, provoking believers of all backgrounds into a lifestyle of radical pursuit and relentless devotion to Christ." We think that's a great idea. Normally, WHTT vigils are held in front of Christian Zionist churches or events held by Christian Zionist organizations, like Christians United For Israel. Thousands of Christians attended the event and were greeted at three entrance points by members of the WHTT team led by David Jacobs and Craig Hanson. Because the "Free Speech" areas were very close to the lines for the security check points at the entrances, everyone got to see one or more of our signs. In this revealing, 23 minute, podcast, Craig and Dave reflect on some very interesting encounters they had with conference attendees. Many people were clueless about what Zionism is. Craig talked with attendees about how he came out of being a Christian Zionist, even though he didn't know he was one (listen to: "Confessions of a Former Christian Zionist"). Handout mentioned in the podcast: "Does the Bible Require Followers of Jesus to Support the Jewish State of Israel? - Be A Berean: Acts 17:11, Do Your Own Research."

Israeli Partisans On Warpath in Arizona to Stomp Out Free Speech
Tuesday Apr 30, 2019
Tuesday Apr 30, 2019
A group of Palestinian activists in Arizona went down to the state capitol to challenge a well oiled effort by Israeli partisans to introduce a new and "improved" version of a previous anti-BDS (Boycotts, Divestment & Sanctions) law that was enacted in 2016, and has, subsequently, been struck down by a federal judge in AZ for violating freedom of speech (for details see: "Bill seeks to replace pro-Israel law found unconstitutional"). A hearing was held by the Arizona House Committee on International & State Affairs on Senate bill S.1167, the anti-BDS legislation. Present at the hearing was an Israeli partisan lawyer from Washington, DC arguing for the anti-BDS legislation. Ultimately, the bill passed the House of Representatives by a margin of 37 to 21, with 2 abstentions. It, also, passed passed the Senate and was signed into law by the governor. It is interesting to note that the 2016 legislation passed by a larger margin of 46-14 in the House. Opposition is growing! ACLU lawyer, Brian Hauss sums it up in his article "Arizona Lawmakers Running Scared After Anti-Boycott Law Ruled Unconstitutional." And, more encouraging news comes from Texas where another anti-BDS law has been declared unconstitutional in a federal court ("Court Rules Texas Anti-Boycott Law is Unconstitutional, Protects First Amendment Right to Boycott"). This 28 minute podcast discusses and analyzes the inspirational challenges made to the legislation in Arizona.
